CEROC, St. Mary’s Hall

Standard

An afternoon dance doesn’t offer light that is as dramatic, but it is a tad more manageable, predictable. As usual, most of my time was spent on the dance floor.

  1. You take lovely pictures. I just came across your blog through the dance tag. What sort of dancing do you do/photograph? It looks like salsa or swing.

LLOYD: Maria, in the UK we call this modern jive. Much like swing only danced to music of all kinds, from all eras and taught with much less emphasis on footwork. I am getting back into salsa, and want to get back into tango. I have had a go at many other kinds of dancing, including zulu dancing (when I young). Photographing dance is really tricky — and for me a bit hit and miss — but I would dearly love to do a big project on dance.

  2. I imagine that dance photography is tricky, and I’m impressed by your ability to capture the movement and yet still have a focus. I can’t wait to see your other dance photos.
